ABOUT:
West Cornwall Legal Advice Centre, based out of Trelya, is Penzance’s first independent free Legal Advice Clinic. We are providing initial assistance and assessment and where appropriate practical support towards representation.
The clinic plans to address legal issues such as family law, domestic violence, housing, landlord-tenant disputes, neighbour and boundary disputes, inheritance and probate matters and small contracts.
By providing free legal advice WCLAC addresses inequality, ensuring community members access essential legal support that they could otherwise not afford.
It has been driven forward by Barrister John Gallagher of Gatehouse Chambers in London.
HOW TO GET AN APPOINTMENT:
You can drop into our center on Thursday, or we can arrange an appointment via email. We advise that you book ahead via email, as we cannot guarantee appointments on the night. Please bear in mind that we have high demand, so there might be a waitlist.

We are fundraising!
When you've run out of options, where do you turn? For hundreds of people across Cornwall, the answer is a single building, open for two hours every Thursday.
The West Cornwall Legal Advice Centre is the only completely free pro bono legal clinic in the county. But demand is now far outstripping what we can offer. The advice is free. Keeping the doors open is not. We're raising £1,000 to keep this clinic running: giving people a fighting chance when they need it most.
We are recruiting!
We are recruiting new volunteers to help us run our free legal advice centre. If you are a compassionate, reliable person with an interest in helping others and supporting legal equality, we’d love to hear from you!
When: Thursday evenings, 5:15pm – 7:30pm at Trelya Community Centre, Penzance.
What: You will help with welcoming clients, and making sure our service runs smoothly and inclusively.
